Ben Gibbard
I went and saw Death Cab For Cutie last Wednesday in Walla Walla at Whitman College. It was totally awesome. I liked Death Cab before, but after seeing their show I totally love them. It's as if each and every one of their songs that I listen to now takes me back to the show and just blows me away. I can't even describe it. After taking care of homecoming business, I stopped by Hastings and finally picked up their album Transatlanticism. Now I love Death Cab even more than I did right after seeing the show. When I say "love," I actually mean "love." That's the cool thing about it. There are no words to describe how incredibly awesome Death Cab is to me right now.
Looking for all the music involving Ben Gibbard, the lead singer/song-writer, I stumbled across a site with a small 20 question interview with him. When asked what one thing he would save if his house were on fire, Ben Gibbard said "my house." I laughed a lot at that. I laughed so much that it inspired me to write about it here and share it with everyone.
As much as I admire Ben Gibbard for his wit, I respect Chris Walla for his amazing mixing, recording and overall production of the album. It would be so cool just to hang out with him for a day and talk sound stuff. Being an indie guy and all he probably has a ton of great insights on the music world.
I want to own my own studio some day. Until then, I want to move to Seattle and have fun working in the music scene there.
